Getting here

Sussex by the Sea is perfectly located in the centre of the south coast of England. You can travel here by road, rail, air or sea as well as on a bus or on a coach.

If you use a satellite navigation system, here are the postcodes you will need to enter:

  • BN18 for Arundel;
  • PO21 for Bognor Regis;
  • BN17 for Littlehampton.

Travelling by road

From London, your journey will take approximately 90 minutes. Follow the A24/A29 via Horsham or the M23/A23/A27 via Gatwick and Crawley.

The A27 and A259 connect Sussex by the Sea to Newhaven / Brighton in the east and Southampton / Portsmouth in the west.

Travelling by rail

There are frequent daily rail services from London Victoria and Gatwick Airport to local mainline rail stations at Amberley, Angmering, Arundel, Barnham, Bognor Regis, Ford, and Littlehampton taking approximately one hour and 40 minutes.

Coastway services also run from Portsmouth, Chichester and Brighton.

Travelling on a bus or on a coach

National Express operate a daily service via London Victoria to Bognor Regis and Littlehampton. The daily south coast service between Eastbourne and Penzance also stops at Arundel.

Stagecoach Buses operate many local bus services around Sussex by the Sea including the Coastliner 700 service. This runs regularly between the coastal cities of Portsmouth and Brighton stopping every half hour or so during the day at Chichester, Bognor Regis, Littlehampton (with connections to Arundel) and Worthing.

Compass Travel also run many rural bus services which connect Sussex by the Sea villages with the local towns.

Travelling by air

London GatwickShoreham (Brighton City) and Southampton Airports are all within easy reach and have very good rail and road connections to Sussex by the Sea. If you arrive in the UK at London Heathrow, then rail travel via London Victoria is your best option.

Travelling by sea

Continental ferries at Portsmouth (approximately 30 minutes away by car) and Newhaven (approximately one hour away by car) connect Europe to Sussex by Sea.

If you have your own yacht or dinghy, then set course for Littlehampton Harbour. Littlehampton Marina has great facilities for you and your craft as well as easy road and rail links to Arundel and Bognor Regis.
