From exhilarating sea sports to a gentle cruise along the River Arun, from a swim in calm blue waters to sitting back patiently, while you wait for something to nibble the bait, the water has always played a vital role in Sussex by the Sea.

Look out for the fishermen who have trawled the sea off our coastline for decades, bringing their precious catch ashore to supply the freshest produce to local kitchens and markets.

You can join in the fun on a fishing charter, with experienced skippers who know some of the best fishing spots on the South Coast. 

Generations ago, seafarers brought their vital cargo up river to Arundel for trade. Now, visiting motor boats can moor at a new pontoon on the river close to the town centre.

For those who want something a little more exciting, take to the waters on surf boards, body boards, canoes and jet skis or try your hand at kite-surfing, letting the raw power of the wind pull you the distance of the beach.

It is just as exhilarating to watch. From the water’s edge, follow the yachts and boats as they navigate in and out of Littlehampton’s bustling harbour and marina.
