Green Tourism - Sustainable Sussex by the Sea

 

We work hard to promote Green Tourism in our area to ensure we can all enjoy Sussex by the Sea for years to come.

Here's some tips of how you can enjoy a more sustainable visit to our district.

Travel by train or bus to Sussex by the Sea. With great regular connections from London, Gatwick and along the South Coast, you can safely leave your car at home.

 

If you must travel by car, see if you can leave it at your visitor accommodation once you are here, and take time to explore the area by foot, bike boat, bus or train. You’ll get to see much more and save on parking costs too!

  

We are happy to support the Green Tourism Business Scheme and The Green Start Scheme from VisitBritain. If you are looking for a place to stay  which holds the same green ethos that you subscribe to, just tick the ‘Green Awards’ into the Where to Stay search facility to find properties who subscribe to these schemes.                

                                                                                                                                                         Choose an accommodation provider who can start your day with a genuine Sussex Breakfast . This will consist of at least 60% locally sourced ingredients, so you can be sure of a real "Taste of Sussex" with a low carbon footprint.

Ask your accommodation provider for details of local buses, trains, cycle routes, and where to buy locally produced crafts.

 

Or you could pack a picnic – with lots of local produce and other goodies available at farm shops and markets, you can create your own Sussex by the Sea picnic lunch to eat at one of our beauty spots.

 

Don’t let your recycling take a holiday – it’s just as important when you’re out and about. Your visitor accommodation provider is sure to have recycling facilities, so please ask.

 

Support the local shops and restaurants during your stay and help sustain the local tourism industry for you and others to enjoy in the future.
