Type: Castle / Fort

This towering stately home and fortified castle has been the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk and their ancestors since 1067.

The castle conceals a very fine collection of furniture, paintings, clocks, tapestries, armour and much, much more, including personal possessions of Mary, Queen of Scots.

Wander in the tranquil grounds and magnificent 14th century Fitzalan Chapel and stroll through the newly restored Victorian kitchen and flower gardens.

Discover rich history and heritage from guides renowned for their professionalism and friendliness. Special guided tours for groups of 20+.

Arundel Castle plays a starring role in the 2009 film, THE YOUNG VICTORIA, starring Emily Blunt. The Film charts Queen Victoria’s journey to the throne and opened in cinemas across the country in March 2009. Arundel's picturesque medieval castle is the backdrop in several key scenes and its wonderful features play stand in for some very famous locations such as the Chapel Royal, St. James’s Palace and St. Georges Hall at Windsor Castle.

The Earl's Garden, another new attraction, was opened by HRH The Prince of Wales on 14th May 2008. This new formal garden at Arundel has been conceived as a light-hearted tribute to Thomas Howard, 14th Earl of Arundel (1585-1646), known as ‘The Collector’.

The new garden occupies about a third of the area of the Georgian and Victorian walled kitchen garden, and is divided into formal courts with a centre canal pond and tufa-lined cascade
