On the Water in Sussex by the Sea

From exhilarating sea sports to a gentle cruise along the River Arun, from a swim in calm blue waters to sitting back patiently while you wait for something to nibble the bait, the water has always played a vital role in Sussex by the Sea.
Look out for the fishermen who have trawled the sea off our coastline for decades, bringing their
catch ashore to supply the freshest produce to local kitchens and markets.
You can join in the fun on a fishing charter, with experienced skippers who know some of the best fishing spots on the South Coast.
It doesn't have to seafishing though, we also have the River Arun and Lakes like Chalk Springs Fishery in Arundel to explore.
Generations ago, seafarers brought their vital cargo up river to Arundel for trade and, visiting motor boats can moor at a pontoon on the river close to the town centre.
For those who want something a little more exciting, take to the waters on surf boards, body boards, canoes and jet-skis or try your hand at kite-surfing, letting the raw power of the wind pull you the distance of the beach. Bognor Regis has a launch ramp for jet-skis and watching them take off can be nearly as exhilarating as taking part! From the water’s edge, follow the yachts and boats as they navigate in and out of Littlehampton’s bustling harbour and marina.
If you prefer your aquatic adventures to take place under the sea, try diving or scuba diving. We have eight of the top 100 ship wreck dive sites in the UK.
Our Visitor Information Centre can give you full details of all the water sports available.
Beginner, intermediate or expert, Sussex by the Sea is a water lover’s dream.
